Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Multiple postdoctoral positions are available immediately in Dr. Min Dong’s lab at the New England Primate Research Center of Harvard Medical School. The lab studies a fascinating family of bacterial toxins, botulinum neurotoxins, which are used widely in treating a growing list of neurological disorders. We are also utilizing these toxins as probes to investigate fundamental cellular functions, particularly synaptic vesicle release, vesicle trafficking, and cytoskeleton remodeling in neurons. Along these lines of research, we have a keen interest in translating our insights toward developing new reagents and therapeutics. Experience in protein engineering, structure biology, microbiology, in vivo analysis of rodent models, gut epithelial cell models, cell biology of neurons, and synaptic physiology will be beneficial, but are not required. POSTDOCTORAL IN UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MALAYSIA (UTM), MALAYSIA

1. Name of Scheme
Post-Doctoral in Bioinformatics / Computer Science / Information Engineering / any related field.

2. Qualifications Candidates
i. Open to the national (Malaysia) and external candidates
ii. Holds a Doctor of Philosophy or Doctorate or any equivalent qualification
iii. For Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) graduate candidate, has been confirmed passed by Senate Meeting (letter from the SPS must be included) is also can apply.
iv. English language proficiency qualification (minimum TOEFL 600 or IELTS minimum band 6.5) for his / her PhD thesis that is not in English and candidates outside of UTM
v. Have experience in conducting research and has resulted in the issuance Cumulative Impact Factor (CIF) at least 1.0 (status issue to be considered is in press or published)

3. Duties and Responsibilities
i. Undertake full-time research with based in Artificial Intelligence & Bioinformatics Research Group, Faculty of Computing, UTM
ii. Produce at least 3.0 impact factor publications per year in refereed journals and / or high impact journals (publishing state considered is in press or published)
iii. If possible, could be asked to conduct lectures / tutorials and supervision of students should not exceed 6 hours per week
iv. Submit results / research report in writing at the end of the period of service approved by the Supervisor to the Director, Research Management Centre (RMC), UTM

4. Period of Appointment
i. First appointed not later than 1 year
ii. An extension may be considered subject to the performance report and recommendation of Supervisor
iii. Candidates may be considered for further appointment as a contract lecturer subject to the performance, Supervisor certificate, rules and regulations and conditions of migrant workers as well as the policy in force when (for foreign nationals).

5. Appointment Status
The appointment is on contract basis. (For candidates who are not citizens, the conditions of appointment are subject to the rules and laws and conditions of migrant workers and the policy of ruling on).

6. Cost of Living Allowance
i. Subsistence monthly allowances paid between RM5, 000 to RM7, 000 based on experience.
ii. Living allowance higher may be considered for candidates with excellent publications and expertise.


7. Benefits and Remuneration
i. Medical facilities for candidate, spouse and two children (who are not married), which includes medical treatment in UTM Medical Centre only. (You will be required to pay medical charges and Research Management Centre (RMC) will make the reimbursement through medical claims.
ii. The University will bear economy class (return) air fare for the researcher only. This will be provided once during his/her tenure.
iii. The University will bear payment for Professional Visa for the Researcher and Dependent Pass for the spouse and two (2) unmarried children only.
iv. Annual leave of 25 days per year.

i. Holding other positions either within or outside the UTM is not allowed.

「基礎・臨床を両輪とした医学教育改革によるグローバルな医師養成プログラム」に選定されている施設では、多くの医学生が海外留学を希望していると聞きます。また、「初年次長期自主活動プログラム」の一環で、海外留学を希望する学生さんも多くいらっしゃるものと思います。神経科学分野での留学に興味のある方々を、当院で受け入れておりますので、興味のある方(施設の教務担当の方も含めて)は私に連絡ください。

研究内容は大まかに二通りあります。(1) 人間の正常な脳機能を解明する研究と、(2) てんかんという脳疾患のメカニズムを解明する研究です。
(1) 人間の大脳皮質がどう働いてるのかを、高速アニメ脳波、皮質電気刺激、視線解析装置をもって、精査します。研究対象となる行動の一例は以下のとおりです。「例:外国語を習う。集中する。きょろきょろする。覚える。夢をみる。顔を認識する。器用に動かす。錯覚をみる。
(2) てんかん発作を起こす脳部位を同定してくれるような理想のバイオマーカーを見つけます。手術成績を効率よく予言できる脳波パターンを特定する予定です。

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Postdoc position

Postdoctoral Position in Epigenomics
The Division of Allergy and Immunology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow. The Barski laboratory is focused on elucidating the mechanisms of epigenetic regulation involved in immune activation, tolerance and memory. The goal of the research is to understand how the epigenome shapes the immune response and whether it is possible to modulate immune response by targeting epigenetic mechanisms. The laboratory is utilizing and developing cutting edge wet-lab and computational methods based on the next-generation sequencing. Please see: Barski et al. Cell, 2007; Barski et al. Genome Research, 2009; Cuddapah et al. Curr. Op. Imm, , 2010.

The Division is a high-energy, dynamic, and interactive environment that is interested in recruiting self-motivated individuals with the drive to succeed and the desire to be competitive at the international level. Candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, epigenetics, bioinformatics and genomics are encouraged to apply. In particular, experience with methods such as foot-printing, chromatin and transcription assays, DNA methylation, ChIP-Seq, RNA-seq and NGS data analysis will be advantageous. An established track record (as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals) is a significant plus.

Study the Role of Circadian Clock in Mammalian Health and Diseases

We offer exciting research projects that potentially have significant impacts on the understanding and treatment of human diseases, including cancer, neurodegeneration and metabolic dysfunctions. We are searching for highly motivated individuals with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, hand-on experience working with animal models. The candidates should also have good communication skills and are dedicated to team work. Preference would be given to those with a good publication record and a recent PhD degree. Prior experience on RT-PCR, chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), co-immunoprecipitation, cell culture, plasmid construction, RNA and protein analysis, and reporter gene assays is preferred.
