コルツ財団(歴史書物翻訳プロジェクトマネージャー)


コルツ財団では、オランダLeidenで勤務が可能な博士及びPh.D Candidateを対象とした、プロジェクトマネージャーの採用を予定しております。主な目的は、戦時中の和文資料の検証、英訳を目的としたプロジェクトの推進を担う役割となります。

The objectives of the Philippus Corts Foundation are:
 The translation of publications in Dutch about the Second World War, for instance the Engelandspiel, into English;
 The translation into English of documents which are related to the history of the Netherlands or the Netherlands Indies; for instance, official Japanese historical documents concerning the Japanese occupation of the Netherlands Indies, and documents written in other languages which are inaccessible to Dutch people such as Japanese or Indonesian
 The preservation on microfilms or the digitalization of VOC (Dutch East India Company) or WIC (Dutch West India Company) archives which are held abroad. In doing so the goal of the foundation is to increase the accessibility of these archives to the public, thereby making a contribution of the long-term conservation of these archives.

Activities for the current year:
 Preparation of: “The publication in English and Japanese of five (maximum of six) volumes of studies about the Second World War (Shensi Sosho) published in Tokio by the Ministry of Defence, which are relevant to the study of the Japanese attack on and subsequent occupation of Indonesia in the period 1941-1945.”
 Contributions to an English language catalogue of Japanese archive material about the Second World War.
 Contributions to the publication of a guide to the archives of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and its local institutions in Batavia. A joint publication of the Nationaal Archief in the Netherlands and the Arsip Nasional of the Republic of Indonesia.
 The publication of the book The Loss of Java.
 The filming of the Dutch East India Company archives in a joint project with the Arsip Nasionaal of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, and the Nationaal Archief in The Hague. In 2007 the trial project of the filming of the archive of the College van Heemraden (District Council) of Batavia) will be commenced.


Project Manager Job Description

Job Description:
 Define project scope and design by drafting a Project Initiation Document (P.I.D.) through communicating relevant personnel
 Obtain initial approval of the Project Initiation Document (P.I.D.), phase 1 Senshi Sosho Project.
 Set up project infrastructure and base of operations within the Netherlands (International Institute for Asian Studies(IIAS) in Leiden).
 Select translators (Translation Company / companies)
 Obtain final approval to commence the project by the Corts Foundation, the Supervisory Board and the copyright owner: Japanese State through National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) in Tokyo

Requirements:
 A young promising Japanese academic;
 Ph.D. candidate or Ph.D.;
 Japanese National;
 Historian;
 Professional interest in military history;
 Capability, aptitude and sensibility to act as a team leader for a long-term international sceientific project in close cooperation with professionals from several countries;
 Competence as a professional translator of Japanese military history;
 Fluent in English writing and English speech;
 Prepared to work abroad in Leiden in the Netherlands for a period of three years.

Employment Condition
Salary Proposal Project manager Senshi Sosho Series:
The designated project manager will be paid by the Corts Foundation through the University of Leiden/ International Institute For Asian Studies.We offer a starting salary for your employment with the Corts Foundation as a project manager based on the pay scale pf the University of Leiden ( January 2009).

The following is based on assumptions about university education and experience as a scientist.

The package we offer is:
Initial contract for one year (an initial 32 hours/week contract is standard, but this can be extended to full time=38 hours/week as soon as the workload warrants this)
(Salary per 1-1-2009 according to scale 11 step 10 CAO-NU (based on 38 hours/week): gross month: E 4.315,-; gross year: E 60.219,-; net montly equivalent (=1/12th of net year): approx. E: 2760,-)

B. Follow on contracts for two to four years, to be extended to cover the complete Senshi Sosho project period (full time=38 hours/week; follow on contracts will be granted on the condition that the project does not collapse and the project manager shows an acceptable performance)
(Salary per 1-1-2010 according to scale 11 step 11 CAO-NU: gross month: E 4.374; gross year: E 61.044,-; net monthly equivalent: approx. E 2.798,-)

Promotion to scale 12 step 5 CAO-NU per 1-1-2011 ( promotion is, of course, dependent on good performance and good progress of the project according to the project plan)
( Salary per 1-1-2011: gross month: E 4.428,-; gross year: E 61.796,-; net monthly equivalent: approx. E. 2.832,- )

The salary will then see yearly increases until the scale max. is reached per 1-1-2016
( Salary per 1-1-2016: gross month: 4.970,-; gross year: E 69.361,-; monthly equivalent: appr. E 3.179,- )

The contract will be fully comparable in all aspects to a regular "wetenschappelijk onderzoeker", payed according to academic staff scales with yearly increases in salary until the maximum of scale 12 is reached. Note: Everyday life in the Netherlands is much cheaper than in Japan..
