"Multiple" postdoctoral positions in the Department of Neuroscience
Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, FLORIDA

MAYO CLINIC DEPARTMENT OF NEUROSCIENCE is internationally recognized for academic excellence in the neurodegenerative disorders. Scientists within the neuroscience department have strong expertise in neurogenetics, neuropathology, animal disease modeling, neuroinflammation, and experimental therapeutics. The Department hosts the NIH-designated Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease Research.

Kim lab introduction
The broad interest of Kim lab is to understand the pathogenic mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and other related neurodegenerative diseases and to identify novel therapetuic targets. Current research efforts aim to understand the roles of Apolipoprotein (ApoE) and ApoE-regulating proteins, such as ABCA1 and LDLR, in Alzheimer’s disease. We are also interested in studying the role of microRNAs and lncRNAs in Alzheimer’s disease, other neurodegenerative diseases, brain aging, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.

Our lab in the Department of Genetics & Complex Diseases and Immunology & Infectious Diseases at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is looking for an outstanding postdoctoral fellow. Emerging studies indicate that metabolic reprogramming critically controls macrophage activation, and a variety of projects are available in the lab addressing various aspects of such control, including the metabolic basis of Nlrp3 inflammasome activation; metabolic crosstalk between tumor associated macrophages and tumor cells; and metabolic influences on chromatin-mediated control of macrophage activation and memory.

Candidates should be skilled in cell biology, molecular biology, and basic mouse work. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in studying macrophage biology, particularly metabolism, signaling, and/or gene regulation, as demonstrated in their publication record. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ph.D./M.D. degree.

Please submit application, including a cover letter, CV and names and contact information of at least 3 references to:

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Postdoctoral Position

The Dasgupta lab is looking for a highly motivated, self-driven and ambitious postdoctoral researcher to start around September, 2016 in the Division of Oncology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. The ideal candidate could be finishing up graduate studies or completed graduate studies with no more than one year of post-PhD research experience. Experience in molecular biology including in-depth understanding of molecular cloning, DNA, RNA and protein work and extensive cell culture is required. Some experience in mouse genetics is preferable. Background in cancer biochemistry, metabolism, signaling and genetics will be considered favorably and interest in the above fields is necessary. Candidates with an interest in the position should send their CV and contact information for 3 references to: Biplab.DasGupta@cchmc.org.
Using genetically engineered mouse models and human tissue, the Dasgupta lab has been engaged in cutting-edge research to understand neural stem cell metabolism, genetic and metabolic uniqueness of glioblastoma (a type of brain tumor) subtypes, energy and nutrient sensing signaling pathways in cancer versus normal cellular counterparts and the built-in metabolic vulnerabilities of human cancer cells. We are also deeply interested to understand the mechanisms by which non-genetic factors regulate the incidence and penetrance of human cancer. We have published our work in highly visible journals including Nature Communications, PNAS, Cancer Cell, and Cancer Research. Our current study on a novel mechanism of tumorigenesis in pediatric brain tumors will be published soon in Neuro-Oncology, and studies on the bioenergetic regulation of brain tumors is under review in Nature Medicine.
