University of Pittsburgh Postdoctral Position

Postdoctoral position in pharmacology and vision sciences.
A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Department of Ophthalmology at University of Pittsburgh to participate a NIH-funded project about the mechanistic study and drug discovery of an inherited retinal degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa. The laboratory is using both in vitro and in vivo models to understand the cellular homeostasis of misfolded rhodopsin mutants, and to test the efficacy of novel small molecule compounds in mammalian cells and in a mouse model that develops progressive retinal degeneration.

Salary: $47,476/yr plus Fringe benefits.
Ph.D in molecular biology, biochemistry or vision sciences with a good record of peer-reviewed research publications. Highly motivated in vision research. Prior experience with molecular cloning, biochemical techniques (Western Blot, immunostaining, immunoprecipitation), cell biology (cell culture, cell-based assays, and imaging), mouse handling (genotyping, breeding, IHC, treatment) are needed. Experiences in SD-OCT, Retinal cryosectioning, immunohistochemistry, and ERG is highly preferred.
