カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校 Robert Hunt研究室 博士研究員募集のお知らせ

A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the Hunt laboratory at University of California Irvine. Our work takes a multi-disciplinary in vivo approach to study the development and function of inhibitory interneurons in epilepsy, combining molecular, anatomical, electrophysiological, imaging and behavior methodologies using mouse models and human induced pluripotent stem cells. The lab is currently funded by multiple NIH and private foundation grants to support these projects.

Requirements: The successful candidate(s) will have a Ph.D. with research experience relevant to our lab interests and a desire to work independently within a collaborative team environment. Preference will be given to outstanding candidates with established expertise in molecular biology, viral vectors, electrophysiology and/or stem cell biology. Candidates with an interest in epilepsy, autism or stem/progenitor cell transplantation are especially encouraged to apply. Competitive applicants should have at least one high-quality, first-author publication.

カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校医学部 神経科学・解剖学科のRobert Hunt 研究室ではPatch recordingとstem cell implantationを組み合わせた独創的な研究手法を開発し、てんかんの作用機序と治療法を研究しています。2015年2月に発足した若い研究室ですが、すでにNIHのR01とR00を取得し、年間4000万円以上の予算を得ています。Hunt博士は新進気鋭の研究者で、研究のみならずグラントの取り方、研究者としてアメリカで生き残る方法など多くを学ぶことが可能ですので、アメリカで独立したい方には最適の環境といえます。生理学、分子生物学、stem cell研究の経験のあるポスドクを広く募集するとのことです。過去に日本人と一緒に働いたこともあり、日本人のポスドクを希望しています。

Hunt研究室の隣には海馬・嗅内皮質のin vivo生理学を行う五十嵐啓助教授が研究室をもっており、研究・生活両面で密接に交流をしています。カリフォルニア大学アーバイン校は、創立50周年の比較的新しい大学ですが、US NewsのBest Global Universities for Neuroscience and Behavior部門では国際ランキング25位と、神経科学分野では高い評価を受けています(東大は61位、京大は98位)。アーバイン市は全米一安全な街に選ばれたこともある治安の良い街で、車で一時間弱のロサンゼルス国際空港からは日本への直行便が多数あります。付近にはおよそ3万人の日本人が暮らしており、全米で9店舗しかない日本食スーパー(ミツワ)が2店舗もあるなど、米国のなかでも最も日本人にとって暮らしやすい街の一つといえます。生活の立ち上げ等は五十嵐らがお手伝い可能です。
