Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute Postdoctral Position

Postdoctoral Position in Angiogenesis/Vascular biology Research

Duties and Responsibilities
A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the regulatory mechanism of blood vessel maturation and stabilization. The previous findings from this laboratory revealed the importance of small GTPase R-Ras for morphogenesis, maturation, and stabilization of regenerating blood vessels (Nature Communications 2017, Cancer Cell 2012, Nature Medicine 2005).

The goal of the present study is to exploit the R-Ras pathways in order to modulate blood vessels for therapeutic advantage, for instance 1) to block metastasis and improve drug delivery and anti-tumor immunity in cancer, or 2) to improve blood perfusion in ischemic diseases. The Komatsu lab is relocating to a new research center of Johns Hopkins University affiliated with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida (scheduled to open this summer). Prospective candidate will be conducting these studies at this new research center.

Requirements
The ideal candidates will have expertise in signal transduction, vascular biology, immunology, and/or cancer biology. Candidates must be highly self-motivated, independent individuals with M.D. or Ph.D. and hold strong publication records in one or more of the relevant areas. Interested applicants should submit a single PDF file containing CV, a brief description of research interests and accomplishments to Dr. Komatsu. mkomatsu@sbpdiscovery.org
