A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the newly-established laboratory of Dr. Colleen Wu in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University. The Wu lab utilizes a comprehensive combination of mouse genetics, molecular and cell biology to study how the hypoxic bone marrow microenvironment regulates tissue homeostasis with the purpose of identifying novel translational applications for the treatment of skeletal diseases that occur during malignant dissemination to the bone and during aging. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has a strong background in cell and molecular biology, experience with mouse genetic models and analysis of bone histology. The candidate will be responsible for performing animal surgeries, tissue collection, analyses using molecular and biochemical methods, bone histology and histomorphometry and write research protocols and manuscripts.

Salaries will follow general NIH Post-doc guidelines and benefits will be provided. PhDs graduated within the last 1-2 years are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications
PhDs in cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field. The candidate should have expertise in cell and molecular biology, and animal handling in addition to some of the following laboratory techniques: tissue culture, mouse genetics models, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, bone histology and histomorphometry. The candidate is expected to have the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in written and verbal English is required.
