筑波大学 ポスドク募集

Postdoc position at University of Tsukuba, Japan (Stem cell aging project)

We are seeking a talented postdoctoral fellow to work on stem cell aging project under the supervision of Dr. Aiko Sada in the lab of Dr. Hiromi Yanagisawa at TARA center, University of Tsukuba, Japan.

Our recent study proposed the co-existence of two distinct stem cell populations – slow-cycling and fast-dividing stem cells – in the mouse skin epidermis (Sada et al., Nat. Cell. Biol. 2016); however, it remains unknown how aging affects these stem cell populations and how it contributes to age-associated tissue dysfunction. The project will focus on understanding the cellular and molecular basis of stem cell aging in skin with implications for future treatments of age-related disorders. The postdoc will perform laboratory experiments, including generating mouse mutants, RNA sequencing, stem cell isolation, cell culture and lineage tracing, and write manuscripts. This project is funded by AMED (Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development) from 2018/10/1 until 2022/3/31.

The University of Tsukuba is among top 10 research-oriented universities in Japan, located in the Tsukuba Science City, northeast of Tokyo. Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance (TARA center) is a cutting edge, research institute in the University of Tsukuba, focuses on diverse areas of biomedical researches, including aging, epigenetics, immunology, reproduction, stem cells and cardiovascular diseases.

Requirements:
A Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D (or equivalent) in biology or related field.
Candidates with a background in stem cells, aging, dermatology or developmental biology are particularly encouraged to apply.
Prior experience with laboratory mice is preferred.
Candidates should be enthusiastic scientists, self-motivated, and independent thinkers.

Application:
Interested candidates should email a CV with a list of publications, a brief statement including a description of their doctoral training, research plan, interests and skills, and the names of at least two references to Dr. Aiko Sada (aisada@tara.tsukuba.ac.jp).
